  Calendar Contest

 The New York State Board’s largest charitable fundraiser of the year comes from the Calendar Contest, where 999 numbered calendars are sold and winners are based on the EVENING 3-Number of the New York State Lottery. 2012 Calendars will be available at our December meeting. A prize of $25. Will be awarded each day, except Wednesday, when a prize of $50. Will be awarded.

The National AOH: Announcing the Ancient Order of Hibernians’ 175th Anniversary Members’ Photo & Story Album Since 1836 the Ancient Order of Hibernians has been a place of refuge and comfort to incoming Irish immigrants. The many Divisions and club facilities help the new arrivals adjust socially and economically. In celebration of the 175th Anniversary, and the traditions and legacy of the Hibernians, we are putting together a special, commemorative Members’ Story and Photo Album. This publication will let you tell of what the Irish-American experience means to you and your family. It can be anything as personal as the story of your ancestors, coming to America, or your participation in the AOH, or as broad as Irish-American traditions, values common among Irish Americans, or community involvement. Through these personal photos and narratives, you will see the evolution of the Irish American culture and the eternal bridge to our ancestors, and realize the individual growth we all have experienced as Hibernians.

The National AOH office has selected Harris Connect as their trusted partner to research and produce this commemorative publication. The Chesapeake, Virginia based publisher has worked with many fraternal organizations, and we encourage you to participate in this project as part of your Irish American birthright.

I am asking the LAOH members to tell me by December 15, if they are interested.  I am asking for the $$ by January 22 in order to hand the tickets out at our February meeting--or mailing out the tickets at that time. Notes from our Friends at the Utica Maennerchor: CHRISTMAS CONCERT TO BENEFIT THE THEA BOWMAN HOUSE, INC.  – The Christmas Concert is Friday, December 9^th at 8 PM.  A wonderful program is planned by the Men's & Ladies Chorus and our Jugend/Kinderchor. Admission is a free will donation with all proceeds to benefit Thea Bowman House, Inc. The Thea Bowman House, Inc. provides day care, food and clothing and many additional services to children, families and others in need in the Mohawk Valley. There is also a box at the bar for donations. Stop in and enjoy this concert after a wonderful fish fry at the Utica Maennerchor.
